Schilling Research Award of the GNS
This prize is awarded by the GNS, biennial in the odd years, for outstanding achievements in the field of brain research. The prize of 20,000 Euro is intended to support young scientists up to 5 years after completion of their PhD or MD.

Breaking News’ Best Paper Award
With this award, the GNS pursues one of its primary goals, supporting and encouraging young researchers. Three awardees are selected from undergraduate students who delivered short communications during one of the two Breaking News Symposia.
Otto Loewi Medal of the German Neuroscience Society
The German Neuroscience Society pays tribute to members who have both committed themselves to the success of the GNS and whose scientific contribution made crucial impacts in their field. The prize consists of a medal plus a monetary prize of 10,000 Euro and is awarded approximately every four years.
Jugendforscht special prize of the GNS
Until 2018, the GNS had awarded an annual special prize of 1,000 Euro for a neuroscience project within the framework of the federal competition "Jugendforscht." The prize was suspended in 2019 due to disagreements between the board of the GNS and leaders of Jugendforscht on the topic of animal experimentation.Read more
